Settlers prevent shepherds from grazing livestock in Jordan Valley

JORDAN VALLEY, July 15, 2018 (WAFA) – Illegal Israeli settlers on Sunday chased Palestinian shepherds out pasture areas near the village of Khallet Makahoul, in the northern  Jordan Valley, and prevented them from grazing their livestock, said a local activist.

Aref Daraghmeh, who monitors settlement activities in the Jordan Valley, said settlers chased the shepherds and prevented them from grazing their livestock, although the settlers were grazing their sheep in the same area.

Between 500,000 and 600,000 Israelis live in Jewish-only settlements across occupied Palestinian territories in violation of international law.

All settlements across the occupied territories  are illegal under international law, particularly article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention, which establishes that the occupying power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies.
