Salfit health director: Continued Israeli closure of northern entrance obstructs healthcare services

SALFIT, October 20, 2026 (WAFA) – Director General of the Salfit Health Directorate, Haitham Mansour, said the continued Israeli closure of the northern entrance to Salfit city is hindering the provision of healthcare services to Palestinian residents and preventing thousands of patients from reaching healthcare facilities.

Mansour explained that the closure is preventing healthcare personnel from reaching 13 health clinics and an emergency center affiliated with the directorate, hampering efforts to ensure adequate staffing at these facilities and the delivery of medicines, medical supplies, and childhood vaccines.

He added that the closure is also disrupting the work of field health teams and environmental inspection teams, while restricting patients' and visitors' access to the Health Directorate and the government hospital, the only hospital in Salfit Governorate.

Israeli occupation forces have kept the northern entrance to Salfit city closed since last Saturday.
