TUBAS, October 20, 2026 (WAFA) — Today, Tuesday, citizens—joined by official and public representatives—participated in an olive-harvesting event in the "Umm al-Kubaysh" area, east of the town of Tammun, south of Tubas, as part of the 2026 national olive-harvesting campaign.
The event was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Tubas Governorate, and the Commission Against the Wall and Settlements.
Omar Bisharat, Director of the Ministry of Agriculture in Tubas, stated that this campaign aims to enable citizens to reach their threatened lands and harvest their olives, in light of repeated targeting by the occupation and colonists, who often prevent citizens from accessing or working on their own property.
He added that, following persistent efforts by the relevant authorities, citizens were finally able to reach their lands and work on them.
He further noted that the event serves to bolster the steadfastness of the citizens and reaffirm their deep connection to the land.
Local residents remarked that the campaign allowed them to access their lands for the first time in months, expressing their appreciation for the initiative, which saw both public and official participation.
It is worth noting that, earlier this morning, colonists cut down approximately 250 fruit-bearing olive trees belonging to a local resident in the same area.
