Jenin: Occupation forces issue over 20 demolition notices and expel farmers from their land

JENIN, October 19, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces issued more than 20 demolition notices today, Monday, targeting agricultural and commercial structures in the Jenin Governorate.

Tareq Aghbaria, the official in charge of the settlements file in the Jenin Governorate, told WAFA that the notices cover greenhouses, agricultural sheds, a recreational park, and a car dealership. Simultaneously, farmers in the village of Al-Arqa, west of Jenin, were expelled from their land and prevented from harvesting their olives.

Aghbaria stated that the demolition notices affect properties belonging to local residents in the area stretching from the Al-Badia roundabout near 'Aba in the east, down to the Martyr Shamikh Abu al-Rub roundabout near the American School in the south. This threatens their facilities and livelihoods, potentially causing them significant financial losses.

He added that the demolition of greenhouses, agricultural sheds, and commercial structures would result in the destruction of agricultural equipment and supplies, damage production and the income sources of the affected families, and jeopardize the continuity of agricultural and commercial activities in the region.

Aghbaria further noted that the expulsion of farmers from their land in Al-Arqa and the prevention of olive harvesting exacerbate their suffering. The olive season serves as a primary source of income for many families; being denied access to their land and prevented from harvesting their crops threatens the loss of the entire season and imposes further economic hardship upon them. He emphasized that these measures—including demolition notices and restrictions on access to agricultural land—increase the pressure on citizens and threaten their ability to cultivate their land and sustain their livelihoods, all while ongoing Israeli actions continue to undermine the foundations of resilience and economic stability in the Jenin Governorate.
