Israeli forces keep Ein Yabrud entrance closed for second day, shut access to al-Mughayyir

RAMALLAH, October 18, 2026 (WAFA) — Israeli occupation forces continued on Sunday to close the iron gate at the eastern entrance to the town of Ein Yabrud, east of Ramallah, for the second consecutive day, while shutting the entrance to the nearby village of al-Mughayyir early Sunday.

Local sources said the forces had kept the gate at Ein Yabrud’s eastern entrance closed since Saturday, causing severe traffic congestion and disrupting the movement of Palestinians travelling to and from Ramallah.

Since early Sunday morning, Israeli forces have also closed the western entrance to al-Mughayyir, the village’s only remaining access point, and fired tear gas canisters at passing vehicles. The eastern entrance to the village has been closed for four years.

According to data from the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, the occupied West Bank has 942 checkpoints, closure points and other obstacles, including 824 fixed checkpoints and closure points and 118 earth mounds, trenches and roadblocks.
