HEBRON, September 29, 2026 (WAFA) – Hundreds of colonists stormed the Ibrahimi Mosque today, Tuesday, while Israeli occupation forces closed off neighborhoods and streets in Hebron’s Old City.

Tawfiq Jahshan, head of the legal unit at the Hebron Rehabilitation Committee, stated that occupation forces—having reinforced their presence in the Old City—closed the streets and neighborhoods leading to the Ibrahimi Mosque to protect the hundreds of colonists who stormed the site and its various facilities.

The colonists toured the Old City markets, while occupation forces maintained a curfew in the Jaber, Wadi al-Nasara, Wadi al-Hussein, and Al-Salamah neighborhoods. They also tightened security measures around the Ibrahimi Mosque and deployed snipers on the rooftops of residents' homes.

For his part, the Director of the Ibrahimi Mosque, Moataz Abu Sneineh, condemned the closure of the mosque and its violation by colonists—led by the extremist Ben-Gvir and various religious and extremist political figures.

He noted that occupation forces completely closed the Ibrahimi Mosque to Palestinians today, barring mosque custodians and administrative staff from entering. Furthermore, the call to prayer was prevented for the hundredth time, all while restrictions were tightened at the checkpoints and gates separating Old City neighborhoods, preventing worshippers from reaching the mosque to pray.
