JERUSALEM, September 28, 2026 (WAFA) – Around 50 colonists, escorted by Israeli occupation forces, today raided the al-Ras area, an archaeological site in the Old City of al-Jib village, northwest of occupied Jerusalem, and barred Palestinian residents from accessing it.
Al-Jib Mayor Samer Abdul Rabbeh said that the colonists arrived at the site aboard a bus accompanied by Israeli occupation forces and remained there for around four hours before the bus departed under military escort, while four colonists and four soldiers remained at the site.
He added that another bus later returned to the area, while Israeli occupation forces continued to close the entrance to al-Ras and prevent residents from accessing it. The colonists also raised Israeli flags at the site.
Abdul Rabbeh noted that al-Ras is located within the Old City of al-Jib and has historical and archaeological significance, increasing the seriousness of the raid and the prevention of Palestinian residents from accessing the area.
