HEBRON, September 28, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces closed the Ibrahimi Mosque to Palestinians on Monday until Wednesday, citing Jewish holidays.

The director of the Ibrahimi Mosque, Mu'taz Abu Sneineh, condemned the closure, claiming it was necessary to secure the Jewish holiday of Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles).

He considered it a blatant violation of the mosque's sanctity and a provocative attack on Muslims' right to access their places of worship.

The occupation forces also intensified their military measures, closing all military checkpoints and electronic gates leading to the Ibrahimi Mosque to secure the settlers' celebrations within the mosque and its courtyards.

WAFA correspondent confirmed that the occupation forces increased their presence at all entrances to the mosque to secure the settlers' access to Hebron and its archaeological sites, and closed some markets in the Old City.

It is worth noting that Jewish holidays constitute a nightmare that disrupts the lives of citizens in Hebron, especially as they coincide with major violations committed by the occupation forces, including imposing a siege, tightening military procedures at checkpoints, and obstructing citizens' access to their homes, especially in the Old City of Hebron and its surroundings, in addition to the settlers' relentless aggression.
