Extremist Israeli MK storms Jerusalem's Aqsa Mosque

JERUSALEM, September 20, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli Minister of National Security, the extremist Itamar Ben-Gvir, stormed the courtyards of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque this Sunday evening under the protection of Israeli occupation forces.

The Jerusalem Governorate reported that Ben-Gvir entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound under heavy security guard provided by occupation police and performed Talmudic rituals in the eastern area of the site.

The Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs expressed its categorical condemnation and denunciation of the storming of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque by the extremist minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, accompanied by a number of colonists and under heavy protection from occupation forces.

It emphasized that these repeated incursions and provocative actions constitute a flagrant violation of the sanctity of the holiest Islamic site and a malicious attempt to impose a new reality and alter the historical and legal status quo at Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Ministry stated that the continuation of these systematic violations fuels anger among Muslims worldwide and demonstrates a blatant disregard for international laws and conventions that guarantee respect for worshippers and the protection of holy sites.

It called upon the international community, human rights organizations, and Arab and Islamic nations to shoulder their responsibilities and intervene immediately to pressure the occupation authorities to halt these violations and the ongoing encroachments upon the occupied capital and its Islamic and Christian holy sites. The Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs affirmed that the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque—in its entirety, covering an area of 144 dunams—is the exclusive right of Muslims alone and is not subject to division or partnership.
