TUBAS, September 20, 2026 (WAFA) — Israeli occupation forces continue to isolate the al-Ras al-Ahmar area, southeast of Tubas in the occupied West Bank, by digging a trench and closing access routes leading to the area.
Head of the Atuf and al-Ras al-Ahmar village council Abdullah Basharat told WAFA that Israeli forces have for several days continued measures to isolate the area by closing its access routes and digging a trench that prevents the movement of Palestinians and vehicles and restricts access to and from the area.
He said the measures are disrupting citizens' movement and preventing them from reaching their lands and property, amid continued Israeli restrictions and actions against residents of the area.
On Saturday, three Palestinians grazing livestock in al-Ras al-Ahmar were detained by Israeli soldiers, who also threatened to detain anyone present in the area.
The area has also witnessed extensive land leveling for several months to facilitate the construction of a military road. The road, reported to be 22 kilometers long and 50 meters wide, begins near the Ein Shibli checkpoint southeast of Tubas and ends near the Tayasir checkpoint east of Tubas, passing through parts of the Atuf plain and al-Ras al-Ahmar.
The land leveling has been accompanied by the demolition of groundwater wells and plastic greenhouses and the destruction of irrigation networks and water pipelines, further affecting citizens' access to farmland, water and livelihoods.
