Medical evacuation through Rafah crossing includes 71 people

GAZA, August 18, 2026 (WAFA) — Teams from the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) today participated in a medical evacuation operation toward the Rafah border crossing, involving 71 people, including 32 patients and 39 accompanying persons.

The operation was carried out as part of ongoing efforts to enable patients to receive medical treatment outside the Gaza Strip through the crossing, in coordination with the World Health Organization (WHO).

Patients were prepared and provided with various medical and humanitarian services at the PRCS-run Al-Mawasi Field Hospital. Medical and humanitarian teams provided the necessary healthcare and humanitarian assistance and ensured that the patients were ready prior to the evacuation, in preparation for their transfer and continuation of their treatment journey outside the Gaza Strip.

PRCS teams continue to provide medical and humanitarian care to patients and the wounded and support medical evacuation operations as part of their ongoing efforts to respond to healthcare needs in the Gaza Strip.
