HEBRON, August 9, 2026 (WAFA) — Israeli colonists set fire to a Palestinian home early this morning in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron, according to local sources.
Anti-settlement activist Osama Makhamreh told WAFA that a group of armed colonists infiltrated the area at dawn under the protection of Israeli soldiers and set fire to the home of Mohammad Abdul Rahman al-Jabareen in Khirbet Umm Dureit, a hamlet east of the village of al-Tuwani.
The attack comes amid escalating violence by Israeli colonists against Palestinian residents in Masafer Yatta, including assaults on residents and their property, arson attacks, land seizures and attempts to restrict Palestinians' access to their lands.
Palestinian communities in Masafer Yatta have also faced increasing pressure from Israeli forces and colonists, including demolitions, movement restrictions and the establishment and expansion of colonial outposts in the area.
