JERUSALEM, August 5, 2026 (WAFA) — Israeli forces continued their raid on Qalandiya refugee camp, north of occupied Jerusalem, since dawn on Wednesday, amid heavy military reinforcements.

Local sources reported that Israeli troops fired tear gas and stun grenades at journalists, while deploying in the camp’s main street in an apparent attempt to obstruct media coverage.

The Jerusalem Governorate noted that Israeli forces shut down several entrances to the camp with earth mounds as the raid continued, restricting the movement of residents.

It also added that Israeli military reinforcements continued to arrive in the vicinity of the airport neighborhood and the Qalandiya Training Institute through openings created by the occupation forces in the separation wall after removing sections of it. This allows for the continuous entry of more vehicles and troops into the area.

The occupation forces had stormed the camp at dawn with dozens of vehicles and bulldozers, deploying heavily throughout its neighborhoods. Troops brought in vehicles loaded with boxes, equipment, and maps, and launched extensive raids and searches targeting a number of residents' homes.

The raid included storming the headquarters of the Popular Committee, forcibly removing several residents from their homes, and compelling one family to evacuate their house. Additionally, the dawn prayer was prevented from being held in the camp's mosques.

Israeli forces also assaulted journalist Muhammad Samrin while he was covering the events, and attacked other residents, injuring a 53-year-old man and another person.

Sources said that Israeli military vehicles ran over a young man in the vicinity of the camp, while Ghassan al-Khatib was arrested, and several other young men were detained during the raid.

Israeli bulldozers also demolished a car wash on Airport Street and turned out the Mansour family home into a military post. This occurred simultaneously with the raid on the camp by more than 30 military vehicles and 10 bulldozers, amidst a tense atmosphere and heavy military deployment.
