RAMALLAH, August 3, 2026 (WAFA) — The Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Mohammed Al-Yamahi, condemned the crimes that the Israeli occupation continues to perpetrate in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including Jerusalem, ,calling for urgent international action to halt the escalation and hold those responsible accountable.
In a statement, Al-Yamahi said that the targeting of hospitals, health facilities, residential homes, and tents of displaced persons, which has resulted in the killing and injuries of dozens of civilians, mostly women and children, is part of the ongoing war of extermination and the policy of starvation and widespread destruction pursued by the occupation, in violation of international law, international humanitarian law, the Geneva Conventions, and UN resolutions.
He added that what the Palestinian people are experiencing is no longer mere violations or transgressions, but rather constitutes war crimes and crimes against humanity committed before the eyes of the international community. He warned that continued international silence and inaction encourage the occupation to persist in its aggressive policies, threatening regional and international security and stability.
He pointed out that the Israeli escalation in the West Bank, accompanied by attacks carried out by extremist settler groups under the protection of the occupation forces, along with settlement expansion, land confiscation, and the forced displacement of Palestinians, confirms the occupation government's continued implementation of a plan aimed at liquidating the Palestinian cause and imposing illegal realities on the ground.
The Speaker of the Arab Parliament called on the international community, the Security Council, and states that uphold justice and human rights to take urgent and binding measures to stop the war on the Palestinian people, implement international resolutions, compel the occupation to implement the ceasefire agreement, and move to the second phase of the peace plan to ensure a permanent cessation of aggression, the complete withdrawal of occupation forces from the Gaza Strip, the opening of crossings, and the guarantee of adequate and immediate access for humanitarian and medical aid.
He also called for enabling the Government of the State of Palestine to exercise its full responsibilities in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including Jerusalem, as a single geographical and political unit, and for imposing international sanctions on the occupation and suspending the privileges, agreements, and facilities granted to it until it complies with international law and international resolutions.
He also called for the inclusion of settlement organizations, extremist settler militias, and their supporters and financiers on international terrorism lists, the prosecution of occupation leaders before the International Criminal Court, and an end to the policy of impunity that has encouraged the continuation of crimes.
