Elderly Palestinian injured in Israeli colonist assault near Hebron

HEBRON, July 19, 2026 (WAFA) – An elderly Palestinian man was injured and others sustained minor injuries in an attack carried out  by Israeli colonists Sunday evening in the town of Surif, northwest of Hebron.

Surif Mayor Hazem Ghneimat told WAFA that a group of armed colonists, , carrying clubs and batons, attacked Palestinians in their homes in the Khallat Ghneimat area, resulting in an elderly man sustaining head injuries from being beaten with clubs.

He added that the attack also resulted in minor injuries to several other Palestinians.

In a separate incident, colonists released a herd of cattle into agricultural land planted with fruit trees in the Khallat al-Homs area, south of Yatta, south of Hebron, damaging trees and crops belonging to Samir Obeid.

The towns and villages of Hebron Governorate, especially the areas adjacent to settlements and colonial outposts, have been witnessing an escalation in colonist attacks against Palestinians and their property, including physical assault, burning of houses and schools, filling in of wells, shooting, grazing livestock on agricultural lands, destruction of trees and crops, and preventing farmers from accessing their lands, often under the protection of Israeli forces.
