JERUSALEM, July 19, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli authorities issued an order on Sunday banning journalist Ahmed al-Safadi, a member of the National Action Committee in Jerusalem, from entering the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound after raiding his home, , arresting him, and taking him to the Al-Qishla Police Station in Jerusalem's Old City.

The ban against al-Safadi is part of an escalating series of expulsion orders imposed on Jerusalem residents, as part of a systematic policy aimed at restricting Palestinian access to the Al-Aqsa Mosque and reducing the Jerusalemite presence there.

Local sources reported that Israeli troops raided al-Safadi's home before detaining him and taking him to the al-Qishla interrogation center, where they handed him the order banning him from the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.

The Jerusalem Governorate stated in a report that Israeli  authorities continue to impose expulsion orders from the Al-Aqsa Mosque on a number of Jerusalemite activists and figures, as part of measures aimed at limiting the Palestinian presence in and around the mosque.

According to monitoring by Jerusalem-based organizations, Israeli authorities have issued more than 500 expulsion orders from the Al-Aqsa Mosque since the beginning of 2026, for periods of up to six months.
