RAMALLAH, July 8, 2026 (WAFA) – The Ministry of Education and Higher Education reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the right to safe education.

The ministry stressed that the Israeli occupation authorities' notification of plans to demolish Al-Rifaiya Al-Tahadi Basic School (1) in the Masafer Yatta area, south of Hebron, within 14 days constitutes a dangerous escalation and a continuation of the systematic targeting of the education sector as part of the ongoing violations of the right to education.

The ministry said the decision comes at a time when schools are utilizing the summer vacation to implement educational, recreational, and psychosocial support activities for children.

It warned that the demolition would deprive approximately 200 students of their right to safe education, a right to which every child around the world is entitled.
