TEL AVIV, Monday, July 6, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said on Monday that Israel has begun what he described as a "settlement revolution," claiming that it will not be limited to the occupied West Bank but will also extend to the Negev and the Galilee.
Smotrich's remarks come as settlement expansion continues to accelerate under the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, which relies on the support of far-right pro-settlement parties to maintain its parliamentary majority.
Last Thursday, Israel's Security Cabinet approved a plan to establish 13 new settlements in the central occupied West Bank, paving the way for the implementation of the first phase of the plan in the coming months.
