Israeli forces, colonists raid mosque in Hebron, prevent dawn prayer

HEBRON, June 26, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces, accompanied by colonists, raided Al-Ras Mosque in the Al-Jaabari neighborhood of Hebron's Old City before dawn on Friday, assaulted those inside, prevented the dawn prayer from being held, and closed the mosque to worshippers.

Local sources said Israeli forces and colonists stormed the mosque, raised Israeli flags on its entrances, and played Hebrew songs through the mosque's loudspeakers. They forced two worshipers who had been staying inside the mosque to leave before closing the site. The mosque remained closed to worshippers.

The sources added that about six months ago, colonists seized a plot of land belonging to the mosque and adjacent to it, where they established a playground.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs condemned the raid, denouncing the raising of Israeli flags on the mosque, the playing of loud Hebrew songs inside its courtyards, and the prevention of worshippers from accessing the site.
