Three brothers detained, several Palestinians suffer tear gas inhalation after Israeli raid on wedding in Anata

JERUSALEM, June 25, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces detained three brothers and caused multiple cases of tear gas inhalation during a raid on the town of Anata, northeast of occupied Jerusalem, on Thursday evening.

Local sources said Israeli forces stormed the town and raided a wedding celebration held by the Al-Rifai family, briefly detaining attendees and preventing them from leaving the venue for more than two hours before detaining brothers Saeed, Omar, and Jamal Nasser Al-Rifai.

According to the sources, Israeli soldiers fired large quantities of tear gas canisters toward wedding participants, causing numerous people, including elderly residents, women, and children, to suffer from suffocation. Several young men were also reportedly assaulted and pushed by soldiers.

During the raid, Israeli forces also searched a number of homes in the town, carrying out extensive inspections that residents said involved damage to property and household contents.

A young woman sustained facial bruises after being assaulted by Israeli soldiers, while tear gas continued to be fired across the town.
