GAZA, June 22, 2026 (WAFA) – The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on Monday facilitated the transfer of seven Palestinian detainees released by the Israeli occupation authorities through Karm Abu Salem crossing to the Martyrs of Al-Aqsa Hospital in the Gaza Strip, while also assisting with communication and family reunification.
The committee said in a statement that since 2023, it has facilitated the transfer of more than 2,500 released detainees through this mechanism as part of its humanitarian efforts to support released detainees and their families.
The ICRC reiterated that it has been unable to access Palestinian detainees held in Israeli detention centers since October 2023, stressing the need to be informed of their fate and whereabouts and to be allowed to visit them and monitor their conditions.
It affirmed that international humanitarian law requires the humane treatment of detainees, the provision of adequate detention conditions, and ensuring their ability to communicate with their families.
It noted that many Palestinian families are still awaiting information about their detained relatives amid growing concerns over their health and safety, stressing the continuation of its dialogue with the Israeli authorities to resume visits to all Palestinian detainees.
