Jewish supremacist Knesset member disrupt Nakba event in Jerusalem

JERUSALEM, May 11, 2026 (WAFA) – A Jewish supremacist Knesset member on Monday disrupted a Nakba commemoration event organized by Jafra – the Student Assembly at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, threatened and incited against participating students.

Video footage showed Israeli Knesset member Zvi Sukkot of the “Religious Zionism” party storming the hall where the event was being held and inciting against the participating students.

In a statement cited by the Arab 48 News website, Jafra said that storming the Nakba-commemorating event and inciting against participants constituted a dangerous racist and provocative act.

It strongly condemned this assault and incitement against students who are Palestinian citizens of Israel, stressing that commemorating the Nakba is a political, national and humanitarian right, and that attempts at intimidation and persecution will not succeed in silencing the Palestinian narrative or preventing us from expressing our identity and collective memory.

It held the administration of the Hebrew University fully responsible for this repeated assault amid the continued policy of turning a blind eye to incitement and violence against students from among Palestinian citizens of Israel.

It added that what occurred was part of an escalating campaign of incitement and persecution against Palestinian students in Israeli universities, while affirming that Palestinian students would continue commemorating the Nakba, and defending the Palestinian people’s right to memory, identity, and belonging, regardless of escalating policies of repression, persecution, and incitement.
