Slovenia to broadcast Palestine-focused programming instead of Eurovision over Israel’s participation

LJUBLJANA, April 23, 2026 (WAFA) – Slovenia announced it will air special programming about Palestine during the period of the Eurovision Song Contest 2026, after withdrawing from the competition over the inclusion of Israel.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Slovenian public broadcaster said it will present a broadcast segment titled “Voices from Palestine” from May 10 to 20, featuring films, documentaries, and analytical programs addressing the Palestinian issue and highlighting the situation on the ground.

The semi-finals of Eurovision 2026 are scheduled for May 12 and 14, with the final set to take place on May 16.

Slovenia had earlier announced its withdrawal from the contest in protest of Israel’s participation, joined by several other countries including Spain, Netherlands, Ireland, and Iceland.
