UPDATE: Two killed in separate shootings in Lod and Kafr Qara, toll of killings in 1948 territories rises to 79 since start of year

LOD, April 7, 2026 (WAFA) – Two Palestinians, Mustafa Ahmad Shaaban, 42, and Yazan Masarwa, 15, were killed in separate shooting incidents in the cities of Lod and Kafr Qara on Tuesday evening, raising the toll of killings in the Palestinian community inside the 1948 territories since the start of the year to 79.

In Nahf, in the Shaghour area, a 23-year-old man was critically injured after being shot in the town. A medical team administered initial treatment before transferring him to the hospital.

Since the beginning of April, four people have been killed. The overall toll includes five women, three young men killed by police gunfire, in addition to three minors under the age of 18.

This comes amid an unprecedented escalation in violence and crime within the Palestinian community inside the 1948 lands.

This rise in crime and violence in Arab communities inside Israel comes amid accusations of Israeli police negligence and complicity with organized crime, and their failure to provide security and safety for Arab citizens.

Palestinians in Israel accuse the police and government of discriminating against them and not doing enough to stop crime in their towns compared to Jewish towns.
