Child injured, several suffer suffocation in colonist attack in Masafer Yatta

HEBRON, March 28, 2026 (WAFA) – A Palestinian child was injured and several residents suffered suffocation on Saturday evening following an attack by Israeli colonists in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron.

Anti-settlement activist Osama Makhamreh told WAFA that the child, Suhaib Raed Badawi, sustained bruises after being beaten by colonists in the area.

Colonists also attacked the family of Mohammad Abdul Rahman al-Jabarin, who lives in the eastern part of Shaab al-Butm in the region. The attackers sprayed the family with pepper spray, causing several people to suffer suffocation, including a foreign activist and a woman.

Israeli forces later detained four Palestinians after colonists attacked shepherds in the Abu Shaban area. The detainees were identified as Ismail Awad, Jabr Mohammad Alyan Awad, and brothers Saif and Karam Tawfiq Awad.

According to the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, colonists carried out 443 attacks over the past month amid the ongoing war and regional tensions, exploiting the instability to intensify assaults on Palestinian villages and communities.

In a report issued Saturday, the commission said the attacks were marked by escalation and coordination, including direct gunfire, the burning of homes and property, and attempts to impose new facts on the ground aimed at altering the geographic and demographic reality in the occupied West Bank.

The report indicated that most attacks were concentrated in Nablus (108 incidents), Hebron (99), Ramallah and Al-Bireh (76), Bethlehem (32), Jerusalem (24), Salfit (23), in addition to Jericho and Qalqilya.
