NEW YORK, March 3, 2026 (WAFA) — UNICEF announced today that approximately 60,000 people have been displaced from southern Lebanon over the past 24 hours, including 18,000 children.
In a statement published on Wednesday on its official website, UNICEF said that seven children were killed and dozens injured, noting that the rising child casualties coincide with intensified Israeli airstrikes targeting several areas.
The agency added that more than 12,000 families have sought shelter in 300 centers opened across various Lebanese regions, many of which have already reached full capacity.
UNICEF pointed out that its response plan requires $48 million to assist one million people in need, while only 16 percent of the required funding has been secured so far.
