JERUSALEM, March 2, 2026 (WAFA)— A report issued by the Palestinian Football Association revealed on Monday that Israeli forces killed 1,007 members of Gaza’s sports community from October 7, 2023, to February 12, 2026.
The fatalities among members of federations, clubs, and youth and scout institutions reached 1,007 (962 males and 45 females).
The affected groups included players, coaches, administrators, referees, heads and members of boards of directors, and staff working in sports federations and institutions.
The report indicated that the Palestinian Football Association recorded the highest number of victims with 565 deaths, followed by various Olympic federations with 317 deaths, and the Palestinian Scout and Guide Association with 125 deaths.
The total number of damaged facilities, stadiums, halls, and administrative headquarters reached 265 facilities, distributed as follows: 184 facilities were destroyed, and 81 facilities were partially destroyed, according to the report.
The damage included main stadiums, indoor halls, headquarters of clubs and sports institutions, sanctioned football pitches, basketball, volleyball, and tennis courts, swimming pools, and fitness centers, in addition to the only athletics track in the Gaza Strip.
Meanwhile, some main stadiums, including Yarmouk Stadium, Palestine Stadium, and Al-Durrah Stadium, have been turned into shelters for displaced persons.
Five people from the sports movement have gone missing, including players, coaches, and administrators of sports clubs.
