HEBRON, February 4, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli colonists on Wednesday chopped down dozens of trees in Masafer Yatta, south of the occupied West Bank city of Hebron, according to a media activist.
Osama Makhamra said that armed colonists broke into the Ighzaiwa area and cut down over 70 olive trees and dozens of forest trees.
He added that the assailants, who came from the Susiya or Susya colony, destroyed a fence that surrounded a farmer’s plot of land and spray-painted racist graffiti on the external walls of an agricultural shed in the area.
Colonists’ violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities.
Colonists’ violence includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, attacks on vulnerable homes, chasing farmers and shepherds, among others. Such acts of violence are part of the ongoing and intensifying attempts by colonists, backed by the Israeli authorities, to forcibly displace Palestinians as part of the larger ethnic cleansing taking place in the West Bank
Approximately 1 million Israeli colonists are living in colonies in the West Bank and East Jerusalem in violation of international law.
