Despite declared ceasefire, Israel continues attacks in Gaza – Government Communication Center Situation Report No. 68

RAMALLAH, December 28, 2025 (WAFA) –  Despite the declared ceasefire, Israel has killed 410 Palestinians in the Strip, raising the overall death toll since the start of the genocide to 70,945. The figures were released by the Government Communication Center at the Prime Minister’s Office in Situation Report No. 68, which covers developments between December 22 and December 29, 2025, up to 8:00 a.m.

Ceasefire in Place, Yet Israeli Violations Persist: Eighty days after the ceasefire, Israel continues large-scale military operations in Gaza, including systematic demolitions, airstrikes, blockade, and restrictions on humanitarian access, resulting in additional Palestinian casualties and widespread destruction.

Continued Humanitarian Collapse: Severe food insecurity, winter exposure, blocked reconstruction, and restrictions on temporary housing continue to place hundreds of thousands of Palestinians at risk, underscoring Israel’s ongoing collective punishment of civilians.

Forced Displacement as a Tool of Genocide: A new B’Tselem report confirms that the mass and repeated forced displacement of nearly 90% of Gaza’s population constitutes a central tool Israel used to commit genocide against the Palestinian people.

Escalation of Settlement Expansion: Israel approved the recognition of 19 new settlements in the occupied West Bank, a move explicitly intended to prevent the realization of the State of Palestine, undermining the viability of a two-State solution.

Intensified Israeli Military Assaults and Demolitions: Israeli occupation forces carried out extensive raids, home demolitions, and infrastructure destruction across the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem, causing injuries, detentions, and displacement.

Christmas Under Siege.. Targeting of Religious and Cultural Presence: A PLO-NAD media brief documents systematic Israeli occupation and settler-colonial policies threatening the Christian presence in occupied Palestine, including attacks on churches, restrictions on worship, settlement expansion, settler terrorism, and destruction of Christian institutions, potentially amounting to the crime of persecution.

Healthcare Access Under Siege: Church leaders issued an urgent appeal urging Israeli occupation authorities to allow critically ill Palestinian children from Gaza access to life-saving cancer treatment in East Jerusalem, highlighting the deadly consequences of movement restrictions.

Prolonged Assault on Northern West Bank: Israeli aggression continues unabated against Jenin, Tulkarem, and Nour Shams refugee camps, with operations extending for nearly a year and resulting in mass displacement and destruction.

Unprecedented Targeting of Journalists: A Palestinian Journalists Syndicate report reveals 2025 as the deadliest year on record for journalists in Palestine, documenting a deliberate Israeli policy of silencing the press through killings, permanent injuries, and the targeting and killing of journalists’ families.
