Occupation forces demolish house south of Al-Aqsa Mosque

JERUSALEM, December 9, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces completed the demolition of a house in the Silwan neighborhood, south of Al-Aqsa Mosque, on Tuesday.

The Wadi Hilweh Information Center reported that the occupation municipality's crews completed the demolition of the house belonging to Jerusalemite Musa Badran in the Al-Bustan neighborhood of Silwan, south of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Badran had begun demolishing his own house about a month ago to avoid hefty fines.

The house is located in an area subject to constant pressure from the occupation authorities, who frequently issue demolition orders under the pretext of building without a permit. Meanwhile, Palestinians in Jerusalem face extreme difficulty in obtaining building permits within occupied Jerusalem.

The demolition of Badran's house comes amid a surge in demolitions carried out by the Israeli occupation authorities in Jerusalem this year. Statistics indicate that more than 93 buildings were demolished in the city by the end of May, including 53 homes. Other reports show that more than 623 homes and structures have been destroyed in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, since the beginning of the year, as part of a campaign aimed at displacing Palestinians and imposing Israeli control.

The house demolitions in the al-Bustan neighborhood represent a continuation of the policy of ethnic cleansing and pressure on Palestinian residents. They emphasize that these measures exacerbate their daily suffering and worsen the housing crisis in the holy city.
