AMMAN, October 23, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli media reported on Thursday that Israel informed the United States that it would not allow the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) to resume operations in the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation quoted an Israeli official as saying, "UNRWA will never set foot in Gaza again," claiming that all UN agencies operating in the Strip had failed to fulfill their duties.
The International Court of Justice issued an advisory opinion on Wednesday stating that Israel is legally obligated to allow UNRWA to provide humanitarian aid in Gaza, stating that Israel had not provided sufficient evidence to prove that the agency had lost its neutrality.
The court's ruling is not legally binding, but it represents new international pressure on Israel amid the worsening humanitarian crisis in the Strip.
