Husband and wife injured in colonist attack south of Hebron

HEBRON, October 18, 2025 (WAFA) – A Palestinian man and his wife were injured on Saturday evening after armed Israeli colonists assaulted them south of Hebron, in the southern West Bank.

Local anti-colonization activist Osama Makhmara said that colonists from the illegal colony of Susia attacked farmers from the Nawajaa family near the archaeological site of Khirbet Susia, beating them severely. The assault left Nabeel Nawajaa and his wife Rihan with bruises and injuries. The wife was later transferred to Yatta Governmental Hospital for treatment.

The colonists also vandalized property, breaking several trees and cutting fences surrounding Palestinian farmland in the area.

According to the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, Israeli forces and colonists carried out 2,215 violations across the occupied West Bank in September 2025, including 1,725 by the army and 490 by colonists. The highest number of attacks occurred in Hebron (463), followed by Ramallah and al-Bireh (417) and Nablus (309).

These violations included armed assaults on Palestinian villages, land seizures, destruction of property, tree uprooting, and road closures that fragment Palestinian communities. Gunfire by colonists also resulted in the killing of two Palestinians in the Ramallah and al-Bireh area last month.
