UK Foreign Secretary describes Israel's blockade on Gaza as moral shame, disgrace

RAMALLAH, September 29, 2025 (WAFA) – British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper described Israel's blocking of essential food and medical supplies into the Gaza Strip as a "moral disgrace."

Speaking at a conference in Liverpool held by her Labour Party on Monday, Cooper underlined that UK’s recent recognition of the State of Palestine reflects its support for a two-state solution.

"Statehood is an inalienable right of the Palestinian people," she said.  "Our decision to recognize Palestine demonstrates our belief that the only path to security and lasting peace for both Israelis and Palestinians is two states living side by side."

Cooper emphasized that Britain is working with its partners to achieve a ceasefire, lasting peace, and a two-state solution.

She added: "Countries from around the world are affirming the need to end the unbearable suffering of children facing starvation and of prisoners and their families enduring torment due to Israeli's blockade of food and supplies.

"The Israeli government must end the moral disgrace of blocking the entry of food, water, and medicine, an act that causes unconscionable human losses," she continued.

"Palestinian civilians should not live in fear and hunger another day. No family should suffer another loss. Enough. We cannot waste a single moment. The time for peace is now."
