RAMALLAH, September 22, 2025 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas welcomed the announcement by Prince Albert II of Monaco, Prince of Monaco, of his official recognition of the independent and sovereign State of Palestine.

In his address to the High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Palestinian Question and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution in New York, the Prince of Monaco said: "We would like to recognize the State of Palestine in accordance with international law... Peace must not remain a distant dream, and the solution based on two states living side by side will achieve stability in the region."

President Abbas praised the Principality of Monaco's recognition of the independent State of Palestine, stressing that it constitutes an important and necessary step on the path to achieving a just and lasting peace in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions. This recognition of the Palestinian people's right to self-determination, freedom, and independence will pave the way for the implementation of the two-state solution, allowing the State of Palestine to live side by side with the State of Israel in security, peace, and good neighborliness.

The President emphasized that the priority today is a ceasefire, the entry of aid, the release of all hostages and prisoners, a full Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, the full assumption of the State of Palestine's responsibilities, the commencement of recovery and reconstruction, and an end to settlement activity and settler terrorism.

President Abbas reiterated all commitments and reforms undertaken by the State of Palestine.

The President also welcomed the official announcement by Maltese Prime Minister Robert Abela of his country's recognition of the independent and sovereign State of Palestine.

Prime Minister Abela stated, "The two-state solution is the only way to guarantee peace in the Middle East, and Malta supports the Palestinian Authority's approach of one state, one government, one law, and one weapon."

He added, "The war in Gaza, which is suffering from starvation, must stop now, and the violence of Israeli settlers must cease immediately."

President Abbas praised Malta's recognition of the independent State of Palestine, stressing that it constitutes an important and necessary step towards achieving a just and lasting peace in accordance with international law. This recognition of the Palestinian people's right to self-determination, freedom, and independence will pave the way for the implementation of the two-state solution, allowing the State of Palestine to live side by side with the State of Israel in security, peace, and good neighborliness.

Moreover, President Abbas welcomed the announcement by Prime Minister of Luxembourg, Luc Frieden, of his country's official recognition of the independent and sovereign State of Palestine.

Prime Minister Frieden stated that the two-state solution remains the only way forward on the path to lasting peace, emphasizing that recognition is not the end of the process, but rather the beginning of a renewed commitment to hope, diplomacy, dialogue, coexistence, and the two-state solution.

President Abbas praised Luxembourg's recognition of the independent State of Palestine, stressing that it constitutes an important and necessary step toward achieving a just and lasting peace in accordance with international law. This recognition of the Palestinian people's right to self-determination, freedom, and independence will pave the way for the implementation of the two-state solution, allowing the State of Palestine to live side by side with the State of Israel in security, peace, and good neighborliness.

Faus stated that the only credible path out of this conflict is the two-state solution, noting the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip.

President Abbas praised Andorra's recognition of the independent State of Palestine, stressing that it constitutes an important and necessary step toward achieving a just and lasting peace in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions, noting his recognition of the Palestinian people's right to self-determination, freedom, and independence will pave the way for the implementation of the two-state solution, allowing the State of Palestine to live side by side with the State of Israel in security, peace, and good neighborliness.

He reiterated his commitment to all the commitments and reforms undertaken by the State of Palestine.

Furthermore, President Abbas welcomed the announcement by Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever of his country's official recognition of the independent and sovereign State of Palestine.

Prime Minister De Wever stated that his country joins the countries that have recognized the State of Palestine, adding that "Israeli settlement activity, the military operation to completely control the Gaza Strip, and the Israeli government's declaration that there is no Palestinian state are all additional reasons that prompt us to declare our recognition of a Palestinian state."

President Abbas praised Belgium's recognition of the independent State of Palestine, stressing that it constitutes an important and necessary step toward achieving a just and lasting peace in accordance with international law. This recognition of the Palestinian people's right to self-determination, freedom, and independence will pave the way for the implementation of the two-state solution, allowing the State of Palestine to live side by side with the State of Israel in security, peace, and good neighborliness.
