RAMALLAH, September 21, 2025 (WAFA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomed the decisions of the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia to recognize the State of Palestine, describing them as "courageous decisions that are consistent with international law and international legitimacy resolutions, and stem from these countries' commitment to ending the occupation and achieving peace, ensuring security, stability, and prosperity for the region and the world."

In a press statement issued Sunday evening, the Ministry expressed its gratitude to these countries, affirming the State of Palestine and its legitimate government's readiness to begin building "strongest and most sincere relations with them at all levels."

The Ministry considered these recognitions to be a recognition of the just and legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and contribute to protecting the two-state solution from the dangers resulting from the continued crimes of the occupation, including genocide, starvation, displacement, and annexation.

It also provides additional momentum to regional and international efforts, led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the French Republic, to implement the "New York Declaration," achieve an immediate cessation of hostilities, resolve the conflict through political and negotiated means, and restore respect for international law and international legitimacy in peacemaking, instead of the "arrogance of force."

The Ministry called on countries that have not yet recognized the State of Palestine, particularly the United States, to take the initiative to recognize and adhere to international law and the Advisory Opinion issued by the International Court of Justice, and to stand on the "right side of history" to ensure that the injustice against the Palestinian people is lifted and that they are empowered to exercise their right to self-determination, as is the case with other peoples of the world.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that an immediate cessation of the Israeli war against the Palestinian people in all its forms and manifestations constitutes "the correct approach to achieving calm, building confidence, and restoring a political horizon for resolving the conflict."
