Israeli colonists assault Palestinian vehicle near Ramallah, steal personal belongings

RAMALLAH, September 21, 2025 (WAFA) – A group of Israeli colonists attacked a Palestinian vehicle on Sunday near the village of Atara, northwest of Ramallah in the central occupied West Bank, causing damage and stealing personal items.

Local sources reported that the vehicle, belonging to a Palestinian resident of the village of Yatma, south of Nablus, was assaulted while passing near a newly established colonial outpost on land belonging to Atara.

The attackers smashed the car’s windows and reportedly stole the driver's mobile phone and a sum of money before fleeing the scene.

The same sources noted that Israeli colonists had set up the new outpost on August 11 on land confiscated from the village of Atara, contributing to the growing tension and danger faced by Palestinians in the area.

Such attacks have become increasingly frequent in recent years, particularly in areas near illegal outposts in the occupied West Bank. Rights groups and United Nations agencies have repeatedly warned of the growing threat posed by settler violence against Palestinian civilians and property, often carried out under the protection of the Israeli military.

Despite being illegal under both Israeli and international law, settler outposts have proliferated, contributing to the displacement of Palestinian communities, the destruction of agricultural lands, and a broader climate of fear and intimidation.
