Cabinet urges immediate international action to save Gaza; stop escalating Israeli crimes

RAMALLAH, September 16, 2025 (WAFA) – In its weekly session on Tuesday, the Cabinet urged countries worldwide to take urgent action to save the Gaza Strip, in light of the Israeli occupation army’s announcement of a ground invasion of Gaza City following threats and forced displacement orders issued to its residents.

The Cabinet underscored that placing Palestinians before two options—death or displacement—is an unprecedented act in modern history, which can only be described as a full-fledged war crime against two million Palestinian civilians whom the occupation continues to kill, burn, and starve, while depriving survivors of the most basic means of life.

It also strongly condemned the escalation of the Israeli occupation practices, including intensified closure measures, land confiscations, and the installation of military checkpoints and iron gates, now exceeding one thousand, at the entrances of Palestinian villages—acts of collective punishment and institutionalized apartheid, extending deep into the Palestinian Territory.

The Cabinet further denounced the growing targeting of Palestinian workers—breadwinners for their families—by Israeli occupation soldiers at 'seam zones,' where they are cold-bloodedly killed despite posing no threat whatsoever.

On a related note, the Cabinet warned of the dangerous decision by the Israeli occupation to seize the roof of the inner courtyard of the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron, describing it as a blatant violation of all international laws and norms.

It reaffirmed that the ongoing Judaization and targeting of the Ibrahimi Mosque is not only a Palestinian concern, but a flagrant assault on global human heritage belonging to all humanity. Such actions, it noted, set a dangerous precedent aimed at legitimizing settlement, displacement, and the erasure of the cultural and religious identity of indigenous communities. Accordingly, the Cabinet instructed the relevant authorities to move swiftly with international organizations, foremost UNESCO, to pressure for an end to these Israeli occupation practices.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa briefed the Cabinet on the political and diplomatic efforts led by President Mahmoud Abbas in preparation for the upcoming International Summit in Support of the New York Declaration, to be held ahead of the UN General Assembly.

The summit will witness a series of international recognitions of the State of Palestine, in parallel with ongoing efforts with partners to secure additional recognitions and mobilize urgent financial resources at next week’s donor meeting.
