GAZA, September 5, 2025 (WAFA) – Three more Palestinians have died in the past 24 hours due to starvation and severe malnutrition, according to medical sources in hospitals across the Gaza Strip.
These latest deaths bring the total number of starvation-related fatalities in the besieged enclave to 376, including 134 children. Since the official declaration of famine in Gaza by the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) on August 22, 98 deaths have been recorded, among them 19 children.
The IPC, a global food security classification system involving UN agencies, has confirmed that famine is already occurring in Gaza Governorate and is expected to spread to Deir al-Balah and Khan Younis by the end of September.
The IPC noted that over half a million people in Gaza are facing catastrophic conditions—Phase 5 of the classification—which is characterized by extreme hunger, widespread mortality, critical levels of acute malnutrition, and total depletion of livelihood assets.
