Colonists destroy olive trees owned by Palestinians in 'Atara village near Ramallah

RAMALLAH, August 20, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli colonists destroyed olive trees and stole agricultural equipment on Tuesday evening in the village of ‘Atara, northwest of Ramallah.

According to WAFA correspondent, quoting the affected landowners, colonists destroyed several olive trees and attempted to assault two brothers who own the land. The colonists prevented the brothers from entering their property and destroyed the surveillance cameras and lighting systems.

The brothers, Mahmoud and Mohammad Abdullah Hammad, stated that the colonists released their livestock into their privately owned six-dunum plot of land, destroying crops and damaging the trees.

The targeted land lies adjacent to a colonial outpost that was re-established about a week ago on Mount Khirbet Tarafeen, near the entrance to the town of ‘Atara. The Israeli army had previously dismantled this outpost four times.

A week earlier, colonists set up the outpost for the first time as part of an attempt to seize control of the mountain, which covers an area of about 2,000 dunums and is considered an archaeological site.
