RAMALLAH, August 18, 2025, WAFA – Israeli colonists began constructing a new colonial road on Tuesday on the lands of Umm Safa village, northwest of Ramallah, according to a local official.
Marwan Sabah, head of the Umm Safa Village Council, reported that colonists’ bulldozers began opening a new road in the eastern area of the village.
The new road has completely isolated the home of Palestinian citizen Mohammad Al-Obayyat from the rest of the village.
Colonists attacked Al-Obayyat’s home two days ago, attempted to assault him, and caused property damage before residents intervened and forced the colonists to retreat to the newly established illegal outpost on Jabal al-Ras.
The Israeli occupation authorities have kept the village’s main eastern and western entrances closed since October 7, 2023, forcing residents to use long and rugged alternative routes. One of the blocked entrances serves nearly 20,000 people daily and connects to several neighboring villages.
