RAMALLAH, July 30, 2025 (WAFA) – Malta has announced its intention to formally recognize the State of Palestine during the next session of the United Nations General Assembly in September.

"This is why the Government of Malta has taken a principled decision to officially recognize the State of Palestine during the upcoming UN General Assembly session," the representative said.

A representative of Malta reaffirmed his government  longstanding support for the Palestinian people's inalienable right to self-determination.

He emphasized that this decision reflects Malta's commitment to international law and a step toward achieving a just and lasting peace in the region. "We believe that recognition is not merely a symbolic act—it is a concrete step towards achieving a just and lasting peace."

“Concrete measures such as this,” he added, “are essential if we are to remain true to the spirit of what we advocate.”
