OIC condemns Israeli strike on Gaza church, repeated attacks on Christian sites in the West Bank

JEDDAH, July 18, 2025 (WAFA) – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Friday strongly condemned an Israeli airstrike that targeted the Church of the Holy Family, affiliated with the Latin Patriarchate, in Gaza City.

The attack resulted in the killing and injuries of several innocent Palestinian civilians and caused extensive damage to the historic church building and its facilities.

In an official statement, the OIC also denounced the repeated incursions and attacks carried out by Israeli settlers, under the protection of Israeli forces, on St. George’s Church (also known as the Church of al-Khadr) and the adjacent Christian cemetery in the village of Taybeh near Ramallah.

The organization warned of the growing danger posed by the increasing frequency of Israeli assaults on Islamic and Christian holy sites in the occupied Palestinian territories. It described these actions as blatant violations of international law, humanitarian principles, and agreements that guarantee the protection of places of worship.

The OIC held Israel fully responsible for the ongoing violations against sacred sites and called on the international community to condemn these attacks and take urgent action to stop them. The organization also urged for the implementation of international protection for the Palestinian people, their land, and their religious sites.
