HEBRON, June 19, 2025 (WAFA) – Armed Israeli colonists on Thursday opened fire at Palestinian civilians in the Surif town, northwest of the occupied West Bank city of Hebron, killing one and injuring seven others, according to the Health Ministry
It announced that 48-year-old Mohammad Ahmad Mahmoud al-Hur succumbed to his serious injury and another sustained a critical injury after being shot by Israeli colonists in the town.
Mayor of Surif, Hazem Ghneimat, said that armed settlers, protected by the occupation forces, fired live gunshots at civilians in the al-Qreinbat area as the latter were attempting to put off a fire started earlier by arsonist colonists, injuring eight civilians, including two seriously injured, one of whom was identified as al-Hur.
He added that some casualties were rushed to nearby hospitals while the others were evacuated to a local medical center.
Colonists’ violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities.
Colonists’ violence includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, and attacks on vulnerable homes, among others.
Approximately 1 million Israeli colonists are living in colonies in the West Bank and East Jerusalem in violation of international law.
