Colonists torch Palestinian agricultural land near Ramallah

RAMALLAH, May 28, 2025 (WAFA) –Israeli colonists on Tuesday torched agricultural land belonging to the villagers of Al-Mughayyir, northeast of the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah, according to a local source.

Amin Abu Aliya, head of the Al-Mughayyir Village Council, told WAFA that the colonists set the area of the eastern plain on fire, destroying crops.

He added that the occupation forces stormed the area afterward to protect the arsonists and foiled all villagers’ attempts to extinguish the fire.

This arson attack followed earlier attempts on Tuesday afternoon, when colonists attacked the eastern outskirts of the village and tried to set fire to agricultural land and crops before the villagers confronted them and forced them to flee.

Earlier on Tuesday morning, colonists also set fire to land between the villages of Al-Mughayyir and Abu Falah, northeast of Ramallah. The day prior, land near the neighboring village of Kafr Malik was similarly targeted.

A few days ago, colonists, under the protection of occupation forces, burned a large tract of land in the Marj Sa'i plain area, located between Al-Mughayyir and Abu Falah.

Colonists’ violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities.

Colonists’ violence includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, and attacks on vulnerable homes, among others.

Approximately 1 million Israeli colonists are living in colonies in the West Bank and East Jerusalem in violation of international law.
