PJS: Israel has killed 209 journalists since onset of aggression on Gaza

RAMALLAH, April 7, 2025 (WAFA) – Israel has killed 209 journalists since the onset of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, according to the Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate (PJS).

The PJS denounced in a press statement the Israeli attack near Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, which targeted reporters sheltering in a tent in the hospital courtyard, killing two journalists identified as Ahmad Mansour and Hilmi al-Faqaawi and left nine others wounded, including six serious injuries.

It said that last March saw an upsurge in Israeli targeting of journalists, as Israeli occupation forces killed not only seven journalists in the Gaza Strip, including six as they were covering events but also eight members of journalists’ families.

In Jerusalem, the PJS documented 11 cases of summoning of journalists to interrogation and orders banning 11 journalists from approaching Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Old City of Jerusalem.

It added that the occupation forces committed 102 crimes and assaults against journalists and media personnel in the West Bank and Gaza last March, including 40 cases of apprehension and ban of media coverage, 12 cases of direct shooting at journalists resulting in two casualties, and the detention of seven journalists, some of whom were released later on.

It also documented seven cases involving physical assault against journalists and media personnel, the destruction of three houses belonging to journalists, not to mention other cases involving house raids, confiscation of equipment, placing journalists under house arrest, banning others' entry into Jerusalem, and incitement and threats.
