Israel refuses to coordinate rescue mission for trapped paramedics in Gaza’s Rafah

GAZA, March 29, 2025 (WAFA) – Israel continues to refuse to facilitate a rescue mission for seven Palestinian paramedics trapped in Rafah in southern Gaza, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society said on Saturday.

It said that the Israeli occupation forces obstructed the accesses of relevant authorities to look for its crews, who have been missing for seven days in Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip.

The PRCS said that the fate of seven of its ambulance crews remains unknown for nine days, following their siege and targeting by the occupation forces in Rafah.

It went on to say that the occupation forces today refused to allow the rescue team to enter the Tel al-Sultan area, west of Rafah, to search for the missing crews.

The medical team was targeted and besieged on Sunday during a rescue operation for injured people in Rafah.

The PRCS condemned the occupation forces' deliberate obstruction of the search for the crews and held them fully responsible for the crews' lives, especially since initial information confirms that they were subjected to heavy gunfire, resulting in several injuries.

It  called on the international community and the countries that are signatories to the Geneva Conventions to pressure the occupation authorities to reveal the fate of the missing crews and to take serious measures and steps to protect medical personnel.
