GAZA, March 27, 2025 (WAFA) – The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) announced today that its teams, in coordination with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), successfully reached the Tal Al-Sultan area in Rafah after five days of efforts to gain access. The mission was aimed at locating nine of its missing paramedics, who had been trapped and targeted by Israeli forces.
In a brief statement, the PRCS reported that their teams faced significant challenges in their search due to the extensive destruction in the area and the loss of recognizable landmarks. Despite these difficulties, they were able to recover the body of one Civil Defense crew member.
The statement also noted that, due to the darkness, the search operations had to be suspended. The teams withdrew from the area but are scheduled to attempt re-entry tomorrow. Israeli forces have been present in the region for the past five days, blocking access to paramedics and rescue teams.
Earlier, the PRCS expressed grave concern for the safety of its nine trapped paramedics in Rafah and held the Israeli authorities fully responsible for their fate.
