NEW YORK, March 23, 2025 (WAFA) – Hundreds of activists gathered at an event in New York to protest the arbitrary detention of Palestinian student Mahmoud Khalil, who is currently imprisoned by U.S. authorities over his activism for the Palestinian cause and his participation in student protests against the genocide taking place in Gaza.
The activists expressed their opposition to the Israeli occupation's crimes against the Palestinian people and the Israeli government's renewed aggression in Gaza. The protest, held at the Adler Hall in New York City, also called for an end the genocide in Palestine.
The activists, who came from various American universities and institutions, voiced their support for the protection of civil liberties and condemned the targeting of students for their political beliefs. They emphasized that targeting students based on their political stances is a clear violation of human rights and democratic values.
