Portugal expresses regret over Israel's resumption of Gaza aggression

LISBON, March 20, 2025 (WAFA) - Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa expressed his regret over the resumption of Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip.

He added, "Portugal still considers it necessary to move to the next phase of talks. Given the existence of an agreement that was supposed to include several stages of dialogue, it is incomprehensible to abruptly end this dialogue, especially since it was supposed to be deeper and more continuous."

The Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, "The resumption of bombing of the Gaza Strip is extremely worrying. All parties must respect the ceasefire, move to the next phase of the agreement, end hostilities immediately, protect civilians, restore full access to humanitarian aid, and release all hostages."

Several Portuguese political parties also issued statements condemning the truce violation and the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip, which has resulted in the deaths of more than 500 citizens, the majority of whom are women, children, and the elderly. They called for an immediate end to the bombing, a return to dialogue, and facilitation of the entry of humanitarian aid.
