NEW YORK, February 8, 2025 (WAFA) – The United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Right to Adequate Housing, Balakrishnan Rajagopal, has stated that it is possible to rebuild the Gaza Strip without displacing its Palestinian population.
In a press statement on Saturday, Rajagopal highlighted that approximately 70% of Gaza’s buildings had been destroyed as a result of Israeli military aggression. However, he emphasized that around 70% of the region could be rebuilt within a period of 5 to 10 years.
Rajagopal also provided an estimated cost for the reconstruction of Gaza, which is projected at around $60 billion.
